Keeping people safe through the Covid-19 pandemic is vital and not limited to protecting people from the disease. As thousands of people volunteer to help their communities, organisations have quickly moved to online service delivery, and trustees and charity leaders are faced with challenges that just a few weeks ago would have been unthinkable.
Safeguarding must remain at the heart of our collective response.
Safer Culture North East has been working to adapt to meet the specific demands of the current situation, and thanks go to the Community Foundation and DCMS for their flexiblility.
A series of easy to read fact sheets has been created for the VCSE sector to be used as brief introductions to the subject matter, with links to further information. There are two available now, safeguarding for volunteers, and safeguarding for online services, with a further two for trustees and community groups to be made available shortly. The project will create more as required, for people and organisations that are new to safeguarding and needing to respond quickly while facing enormous challenges.
